Ferb Screen Privacy Policy

Ferb Screen is a call screening service operated by LK Ferb LLC, an Illinois limited liability company, PO Box 3376, Barrington, IL 60011-3376 ("we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. Questions: hello@ferbscreen.com.

1. Who this covers

This policy covers our subscribers (the people who forward their unanswered calls to Ferb Screen) and callers (the people whose calls are screened).

2. What we collect

Subscriber account information: name, email address, mobile number, forwarding settings, and notification preferences.
Payment information: handled by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers; we receive only limited details such as card type, last four digits, and billing status.
Caller information: the caller's phone number and caller ID, the time and length of the call, and what the caller tells our AI attendant (such as name and reason for calling).
Transcripts: we convert the caller's speech to text to create a transcript and summary for the subscriber.
Technical information: basic logs such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited on ferbscreen.com, used for security and to keep the service running.

3. What we do not collect

No call recordings are kept. Audio is processed only long enough to create the transcript and is not stored.
No voiceprints or biometric identifiers. We do not create, collect, or store voiceprints or any biometric identifier or biometric information as defined by the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). Our quick robot check looks at the caller's response, not their voice characteristics.

4. Call notice and consent

Illinois and several other states require the consent of all parties before a private conversation is recorded or transcribed. At the start of every screened call, our attendant tells the caller that the call is answered by an automated assistant and that what they say will be transcribed and shared with the person they called. A caller who does not agree may hang up at any time. Subscribers agree not to use Ferb Screen in a way that violates any recording, consent, or privacy law that applies to them.

5. How we use information

To screen calls and send the subscriber a short summary and transcript by text, email, or push notification.
To block robocalls and spam.
To bill subscriptions, provide support, and send service and account messages.
To secure, maintain, and improve the service, and to comply with law.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use transcripts for advertising.

6. Text messages (SMS)

If you opt in to text alerts, Ferb Screen will send you call summary alerts and account messages (such as billing or service notices). Message frequency varies with the number of calls you receive. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time; reply HELP for help or email hello@ferbscreen.com. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Mobile numbers and text opt-in information will not be shared, sold, or rented to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text opt-in data and consent are excluded from any sharing described in this policy. Information may be shared only with the service providers that help us deliver the messages, as described below.

7. Who we share with

We share information only with service providers that help run Ferb Screen, under contracts that limit their use of it:

Telnyx: phone numbers, call handling, speech-to-text, and text message delivery.
Cloudflare: website and application hosting and security.
Stripe: payment processing.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (subject to this policy).

8. How long we keep it

Transcripts and call summaries: kept for 7 days, then deleted, unless the subscriber deletes them sooner.
Call logs (number, time, length): kept for 30 days.
Account and billing records: kept while the account is open and as long afterward as needed for tax, legal, and accounting purposes.

9. Your choices and deletion requests

Subscribers may view, correct, or delete their account information and transcripts, or close their account, by emailing hello@ferbscreen.com. Callers may ask us to delete a transcript of their call by emailing us with the number they called from and the approximate time. We will respond within 30 days, and we may need to verify your identity first. Residents of some states may have additional rights, and we will honor them as required by law.

10. Children

Ferb Screen is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 as subscribers. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit and limited access, to protect information. No system is perfectly secure.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will notify subscribers by email or in the service before they take effect.
